Turks and Caicos Travel Guide

This magnificent group of islands is the perfect destination for a getaway. Turks and Caicos is southeast of the Bahamas and is well-known for its turquoise ocean water, perfect for scuba diving and snorkeling.

Below is everything you need to know to plan the perfect holiday in Turks and Caicos. From currency to climate and everything in between, we’ve got you covered in this Turks and Caicos travel guide.

There’s not much public transportation on the islands. So you’ll need to pick between a taxi and hiring a car.

We highly recommend hiring a car to save money, considering you can expect to pay a 15% tip on top of taxi fees. You can use your US driver’s license for 30 days in the region.

If you want to use a taxi, it’s best to book them ahead of time. They’re easy to find in central places, but might not be readily available if you head off the beaten path.

They accept travelers' cheques and all major credit cards on the islands. The banks in the territory all offer ATMs, so you’ll have no problem accessing cash.

The tipping culture requires that you have cash on hand. An average of 15% is tipped to waiters, taxi drivers, cleaning staff, and porters.

From June to October, the average temperature is between 85 and 90°F. These are the summer months, so it can reach the mid-90s. Between November and May, the average temperature is between 80 and 84°F.
