Anguilla is a small Caribbean island with dazzling beaches, soft sands, corals, and clear waters. The majority of Anguilla's visitors spend their time swimming or sunbathing. But if you'd like a different experience, the island is not short of activities for you to explore.

If you're planning your itinerary, here are some of the best things to do in Anguilla.

Explore Prickly Pear Cays And Sandy Island

Would you like to experience unspoiled white beaches and enjoy peace and quiet? Visit Prickly Pear Cays and Sandy Island.

Some activities to enjoy in Prickly Pear Cays include sunbathing, snorkeling, and exploring hidden caves.

If you’re travelling with your

For photo-focused visitors, Sandy Island offers the ideal backdrop for your Instagram shots. On this small sandbar, you can enjoy snorkeling, sunbathing, and swimming - all in one place!

For a more immersive experience, we recommend trying out various menus on this island, such as the traditional BBQ with ribs and chicken or the local crayfish.

Sail Into The Sunset

While the beaches and local cuisine might be the reason you visit Anguilla, your visit is incomplete without experiencing going on a sailboat. These boats offer everything from pirate adventures to romantic sunset cruises.

We highly recommend a romantic sunset cruise if you’re traveling as a couple. Otherwise, if you want to sail during the day, sailors aboard the Anguillian boats will take you around the island, with stops in Sandy Island, Prickly Pear Cays, and Little Bay for snorkeling.

Enjoy A Quiet Afternoon At Little Bay

Little Bay is an idyllic and romantic horse-shoe-shaped island that you can reach only by boat. This picture-perfect landscape is ideal for spending a romantic afternoon with your loved one.

The beach is quite secluded, making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The calmness, crystalline waters, and brightly colored marine creatures are very captivating.

Little Bay is also a perfect spot for adventure lovers. You can climb to the top of the rocks and plunge into the turquoise waters or paddle-board your way around the island.

However, there are no amenities around so we recommend taking everything you need for the day with you, including plenty of sunscreen!

Enjoy The Nightlife

Anguilla has one of the best live music scenes, and you'll be amazed by the amount of musical talent such a small island boasts. The island has regular events, most of which are centered around live music.

Some of the popular music genres you'll find in these events include:

  • Reggae

  • Calypso

  • Fast-beat soca- a Caribbean fave

Most resorts and hotels on the island have bands and solo artists playing all night long. The Dune Preserve is particularly the number one spot as it was founded by Anguilla's music legend Bankie Banx, who hosts live bands occasionally.

Visit The National Trust

Learn Anguillian history and culture at the Anguilla National Trust (ANT). ANT was founded in 1989. It focuses on preserving the culture and heritage of Anguilla.

In our experience, there are numerous activities that travelers can enjoy at the ANT. They include exploring the island's museums, visiting a former plantation house, or embarking on a guided tour.

The ANT also offers cultural experiences such as fishing trips, cooking classes, and even beach clean-ups.

Hydro Flight

Try hydro-flying if you'd like to get unrivaled views of the clear blue waters, beaches, and surrounding mountains. It's a thrilling experience that gives you a chance to literally take flight over the waters of Anguilla while hovering above and dipping into the Caribbean Sea!

Hydro flights can surge you up to 15 feet in the air and allow you to perform daring stunts. Plus, with no fuel or noise pollution, it's an eco-friendly way to explore Anguilla from above while having a ton of fun.

Sample The Local Cuisine

Anguillian local cuisine is to die for. From the famous lobster dishes served at local beach shacks and restaurants to traditional rotis, Anguilla has a wide range of delicious options.

Make sure you try the Anguillian crayfish. These are like nothing you've seen before. They're huge, and locals prefer them to lobster.

We also suggest trying some local street food. Some of the common options include ribs and chicken with sides such as garlic bread, fries, and coleslaw. Go for a snack at one of the beach shacks, and you won’t regret it!

Begin Your Anguilla Adventure

Anguilla is a hidden paradise for beach lovers, adventure seekers, and culture enthusiasts. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or an exciting holiday filled with activities, this small island is a beautiful spot to kick back and relax.
