Celebrating its 5th anniversary The Resort at Pelican Hill Newport Beach feels more like it should be celebrating its Diamond Jubilee. The five-star property and its committed team of 1,000 hospitality professionals have already been driven to become a classic in the littered landscape of luxury properties in southern California.

Out of the gate, the property garnered awards left and right. This year is no different. Condé Nast Traveler readers have ranked The Resort at Pelican Hill as southern California's Top Resort. Published annually in the November issue, the 2013 Readers' Choice Awards feature regional rankings, in which Pelican Hill earned a score of 94.7 to top the southern California resorts list.

To mark its fifth anniversary, Nov. 26, 2013, The Resort at Pelican Hill is offering anniversary packages, a redesigned website and a "Favorite Memories" Pinterest contest with a grand prize package equal to $50,000.

Some luxury properties have all the luck. A resort might try hard to achieve that classic feel and dominate the market and, still, don't manage to do it with decades of practice. Pelican Hill seemingly waltzes onto the landscape and dims its competition.

It's down to a simple recipe. Try, try and try harder. Frank Ashmore, vice president sales and marketing, said, "We're a very competitive group. We look at the ranking of something like Condé Nast Traveler and we say if it's not 100% then we should focus on what's not working and improve it."

The Pelican Hill staff culture promotes thoughtfulness, graciousness and personalization. Each employee carries around a "culture card" so that they might share a service value every day of the week. The value rotates from day to day, and week to week.
With an attitude like that it's no wonder that Pelican Hill staff of nearly 1,000 hospitality professionals strives to mint memories for its guests.

For the anniversary contest, guests are invited to submit their favorite Pelican Hill photos and stories online at pelicanhill.com/memories. An online Pinterest board will display guests' memories, which are eligible to win a monthly prize valued at $500. Memory winners also earn a chance to win the grand prize package when the contest concludes in late November 2014.
